We've been working hard to make good use of the vegetable scraps that were kindly donated by neighborhood eateries and community kitchens, including carrots, onion peels, herb stems, and more.
Making homemade vegetable stock out of half of these scraps is the first step. This stock, which is high in nutrients and flavor, serves as the foundation for the healthy meals we will cook and give to student athletes who are in need of nourishing fuel. One bowl at a time, it's an easy way to show support.
Additionally, the remaining half of the scraps are not wasted; they are turned into natural fertilizer through composting, which we will be giving to nearby farms and gardens to support the growth of the following food cycle. Everything has a purpose; nothing is wasted.
