🕯️ Sharing Light to Locals in Yokohama — November 25, 2025
On November 25, we spent the afternoon handing out our handmade coffee-scented candles to people across the Yokohama community: parents taking an afternoon stroll and grandparents walking their dogs. Each candle started as coffee scraps collected from local cafés, now transformed into something small but comforting. What surprised us most was how genuinely happy and interested people were to receive them. Moments like these remind us that the heart of sustainability is commun

🕯️ Sharing Light at the Senior Home — November 18, 2025
This week, we visited a local senior home to drop off 30 of our coffee-scented candles , each one poured by hand into small glass jars we’ve been saving for months. Honestly, we were a little nervous walking in—we weren’t sure how the seniors and caretakers would react to candles made from repurposed coffee scraps , but YIS's SWAT (Senior Well-being Assistant Team) made the process very smooth for us. We explained how each candle started as waste from the cafés we visit every

🥬 Dragon Dining Collection – Nov 19, 2025
On Monday, we were able to collect a massive 1.781 kilograms of vegetable food scraps. We know this may not seem like much, but each collection adds up to a larger number of CO2 emissions prevented. This was then dried and turned into fertilizers which will be distributed to the local farms in Hodogaya. Thank you, Dragon Dining, for this continued support!

☕ Collecting Coffee Grounds from Tully’s Coffee, Caravan Coffee, and Coffee Roastery Meguro – October 20, 2025
We collected 8 kg of unused coffee grounds from our visits to Tully's Coffee, Caravan Coffee, and Coffee Roastery Meguro this week, avoiding the release of about 20 kg of CO₂ emissions into the environment. In addition to using the collected coffee grounds as natural fertilizers for our garden, we also turned them into coffee oil to mix with wax in our sustainable candles again! The delivery of these candles and fertilizers to Hodogaya farms, school gardens, and senior living
