🥗 Mike’s Place – Kamakura – August 23, 2025

We traveled to Kamakura this past Saturday to check out Mike's Place, a cozy local restaurant next to the beach with tons of amazing barbecue dishes. In addition to giving us a warm welcome, the staff had carefully set aside 0.9 kilograms of vegetable and possible food scraps for our project.

Although it might not seem like much at first, holding that little box of scraps made us realize how little amounts can make a significant difference when saved week after week. In the near future, those onion skins, leafy greens, bell peppers, etc will be used to make natural fertilizer that will nourish nearby soil rather than wind up in a landfill.
